Weatherfold privacy policy
Updated 30 October 2026. This policy covers the Android app Weatherfold by Tearoom. It does not cover other Tearoom apps.
Controller

In short
There is no account, no advertising and no analytics in the app. To show the weather, the app sends an approximate location to the Norwegian Meteorological Institute. Everything else stays on your phone.
Weather forecast
The app requests forecasts from MET Norway (the Norwegian Meteorological Institute, api.met.no) over an encrypted connection. Each request contains the coordinates of the place, rounded to about 100 m, the app version and a contact address of the developer. MET Norway also receives your IP address and usual technical details. Tearoom does not receive this data. See MET Norway for their privacy information.
Location
If you allow it, the app reads your approximate location (Android’s “approximate location”, about city level) while the app is open.
Widgets set to “Device location” can follow you while the app is closed. Only if you choose “Allow all the time” in Android, the app reads your approximate location in the background, once an hour and only while such a widget is on your home screen, and loads the forecast for it. Without this permission the widgets use the place from the last time you opened the app. The app explains this before Android asks, and you can withdraw it in Android’s settings at any time.
The location stays on your device; only the rounded coordinates go to MET Norway as described above. To show a place name and to search for places, the app uses the geocoding service that Android provides on your device; its provider depends on your device (often Google).
Stored on your device
Your saved places, the chosen looks and the last forecasts are stored in the app’s private storage. Android may include this in your device backup if backups are on. The app reads whether your wallpaper is light or dark (no image) to choose a readable text colour for the widgets.
Pro purchase
Weatherfold Pro is an optional one-time purchase through Google Play. Google processes the payment, your Google account and the receipt under its terms. The app receives the purchase state and a purchase token from Google Play, checks it on the device and stores only whether Pro is unlocked. Google’s Play Billing Library sends technical diagnostics about the purchase flow (for example error codes) to Google. Tearoom runs no server for this.
Permissions
Internet access for the forecast. Approximate location, optional; without it you choose a place by name. Location in the background (“Allow all the time”), optional, only for widgets on the device location.
Deletion
Remove places in the app, or clear the app’s storage in Android settings, or uninstall the app.
Legal bases
Processing to provide the weather for your place (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Location access only with your permission (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw in Android at any time. Email enquiries to answer them (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Your rights
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection, and to complain to a supervisory authority. As Tearoom stores no personal data about you, requests can usually be answered by pointing to the device. Contact: apps@tearoom.one.
