Dahlia guide
Step-by-step guides with pictures:
Below are answers to common questions.
A mandala shows a small Pro mark. What does that mean?
The mandala uses something that comes with Pro, for example a fourth layer, an emblem or a quote. You can try all of it in the editor. Tap the mark to see which parts need Pro. When you save, Dahlia offers to buy Pro or to save without those parts.
Where are my saved pictures?
In your gallery, in the album “Mandala” (on the phone in Pictures/Mandala).
I bought Pro, but it is not unlocked.
Open Dahlia once with an internet connection and the Google account you bought it with; the app checks your purchases at start. If the purchase is still pending, Pro unlocks as soon as it is paid. On a new phone Pro comes back the same way, without buying it again.
The wallpaper cuts off part of my mandala.
Save the mandala with Save in the top bar, choose “This screen” and “Whole”, and tap “Wallpaper” there. Then the whole mandala fits on the screen, and you can move and zoom it by hand with Pro.
My quote lies over the mandala.
In the square editor there is little room. Save in the shape of your screen (“This screen”), and the quote sits below the mandala. Its size and height are in the “Text” tab under “Size and place”.
Does the live wallpaper drain my battery?
It moves only while you can see it and stops when the screen is off or an app covers it. While it moves, it uses about as much as a short animation. If you want no movement at all, use a normal wallpaper or “New wallpaper every day”.
The editor reacts slowly.
Switch on “Fast preview” in the menu. The preview then draws a lighter glow; saved pictures still get the full glow. Fewer layers also make it faster.
How do I keep my mandalas when I change phones?
Dahlia allows Android’s backup, so when you set up a new phone from your Google backup, your settings and favourites usually come along. To move a single mandala, use “Save settings” in the menu and open the file on the other phone with “Open file”.
How do I get my favourites from the Mac?
The Mac app, still called Mandala Generator, keeps its favourites in favorites.json in ~/Library/Application Support/MandalaGenerator. Copy this file to your phone and choose “Open file” in Dahlia’s menu. Single mandalas move with “Save Settings” on the Mac and “Open file” on the phone, and back with “Save settings” and “Load Settings”.
