Gasamba privacy information

Updated 3 October 2026. This policy covers Gasamba for iTunes Sync and Gasamba+ for iTunes Sync, published by tearoom.one. It does not cover Gazania.

Music and library data

Gasamba connects to the SMB network share you configure. It requests your iTunes XML library and selected audio files, downloads them to your chosen Android folder, and writes M3U playlists there. The XML may contain track names, artists, albums, file paths, playlist names, ratings and listening history. This information is processed on your device to perform the sync and playlist operations. Gasamba does not upload your music or library to tearoom.one.

Network connections and authentication

The host address, share name, username and password you enter are used to connect and authenticate to your chosen SMB server. That server receives authentication information and requests identifying the library and music files you ask Gasamba to read. If you use network discovery, Gasamba probes SMB servers on your local network. You decide which server and share to use.

SMB security depends on the server and negotiated protocol. Do not expose an SMB share to the public internet. Use a trusted local network or a VPN. Gasamba does not promise encryption for every supported SMB connection.

Local storage and permissions

Connection settings, credentials, the downloaded XML, selected playlists and sync logs are stored in the app’s private Android storage. Music and M3U files are stored in the destination folder you select through Android’s file picker. Gasamba requests persistent read and write access to that folder. Android audio access is used to find and index local music. Notifications report sync progress. Gasamba+ can run scheduled sync when you enable it.

The app disables its own automatic Android backup. Other apps, Android device features or a backup service you use may separately back up files in your music folder; those services have their own policies.

Analytics, advertising and retention

Gasamba contains no advertising, analytics or remote crash-reporting service. Sync logs stay on the device and may include file names, share addresses and error messages. Contacting support by email sends only the information you choose to include in that email.

Connection settings can be changed in Setup. Clearing app storage or uninstalling removes the app’s private settings, cached XML and logs. Downloaded music and playlists in the selected folder remain until you delete them. Automatic cleanup, when enabled, removes only previously downloaded files recorded as managed by Gasamba that are no longer selected. The separate cleanup controls can delete additional files in the dedicated destination folder after confirmation. Gasamba does not delete the source music on the SMB server.
